Ripe Time
Upagupta was the handsome bhikku of Lord Buddha. He was so handsome that all females of that time dreamt to be with him. When the dancer of Bhimbisara saw him, she proposed him to accept her.
Upagupta looked her from head to toe. Looking her beauty and sculpted body, he smiled. Ignoring the wealth, liesurness and comfort, she had taken the begging bowl and expressing her desire to be accepted by him. With loveable smile he told her, "hey beautiful, when the ripe time comes, I promise to accept you. ".
Ripe time means a lot. When the fruit ripens, it not only changes its skin colour, it becomes soft. From sour it becomes sweet and juicy. And at last it drops from the tree by itself for the benifit of others. Life too is like that. With thousand experiences, we move forward and try to achieve the meaning of life.
But the dancer not understood the meaning of ripe time. Dejected she went back. She became rich and famous and reached the zenith of her dance. Kings, rich merchants and common people thronged her place with gifts. However, time never stops... Slowly diseases took grip on her. She became ugly and her adorers started to ignore her.
In her last time, her thoughts found stablility in spirituality. She told God, I born at the place which you chose. Done my job without any complaint. But with "Ego" of "I, Me and Mine" brought downfall of me. I forgot you. I am now back. Please accept me as I am. Let me not fail again. She was weeping and pleading silently.
Suddenly a reassuring hand toucher her cheeks and wiped off her tears. It gave her support to stand. She slowly opened her eyes and this time she saw smiling Upagupta infront of her with same brightness and beauty. He told her, the time is ripe now, come with me.
